ENDODONTICS
_Definition:
Endodontics is that branch of dentistry that deals with the etiology, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries that
affect the pulp and periapical tissues.
Diseases:
Endodontics diseases are includes -
1. Pulpitis -
i. acute pulpitis
ii. close pulpitis
iii. cronic pulpitis
2. Endoperiodontitis
3. Periapical lesion

Causes of endodontics diseases:
1. Dental caries
2. Periodental diseases
3. Trama
4. Itaganic causes
Sign and symptoms of diseases:
i. Pain – severe, sharp, lancinating, intermittent and throbbing, non localize, defuse pain. Usually worse during fatigue and at night when in a reclining position.
ii. The tooth may be slightly tender to percussion if there is a beginning periapical involvement.
iii. The tooth usually shows extensive caries or a large restoration
iv. Body temperature is not affected unless there is periapical involvement.

i. Pulp capping : The procedure utilized in the protection of an exposed healthy pulp by means of an agent and to recover and maintain its normal vitality and function. A calcium hydroxide past is the most used pulp capping agent.
ii. Pulpotomy : It may be define as those procedures that performed in the removal the coronal portion of the pulp and in the protection of the vitality of the remaining radicular pulptissue. It is usually done on in primary tooth with career pulp exposer and young permanent enterior tooth.
iii. Root canal filling: It is the complete removal of pulp from a tooth and fill the canal with the artificial materials , called root canal filling.
iv. Reinplantation

Immediate treatment for an acute periapical abscess of a tooth needing endodontic therapy:
i. Open the tooth for drainage
ii. Prescribe antibiotics
iii. Incision and drainage if abscess is localized.
iv. Warm saline rinses to help localize inflammation.
v. Relieve occlusion
